Five Pictures Critique

Camera: Fujifilm FinePix S4250WM
ISO: 100
Shutter Speed: 1/110 sec
F-stop: f/4.5
Focal Length: 11.35mm
Comments: It's a good picture but the blown out background is a little distracting and the cow has that soft glow to him that won't go away.
Camera:  Fujifilm FinePix S4250WM
ISO: 100
Shutter Speed: 1/180 sec
F-stop: f/8.0
Focal Length: 4.3mm
Comments: I like this picture I just wish the mare's head was tilted a little facing my direction and maybe removing the panels would have been good so she's looking out at the vast land.
 Camera: Fujifilm FinePix S4250WM
ISO: 400
Shutter Speed: 1/350 sec
F-stop: f/13
Focal Length: 20.4mm
Comments: I wish I could have gotten this picture more sharper and could have free framed her legs a bit more so they weren't as blurry. I like the motion captured in it though.
 Camera: LG-D500
ISO: 100
Shutter Speed: 1/180 sec
F-stop: f/2.4
Focal Length: 3.49mm
Comments: I really like this picture and the colors and light it portrays I wish the sunlight wasn't as harsh as it is, but overall I really like it. Wish it could have been a bit sharper.
Camera: Fujifilm FinePix S4250WM
ISO: 100
Shutter Speed: 1/90 sec
F-stop: f/5.2
Focal Length: 18.8mm
Comments: This picture is nice, but again the semi blown out background I do not like and I cut off the tail when I zoomed in to take a picture of this pony, but overall it's a nice picture, could use a little work.

Anything But Perfect

A silly face, more of a candid shot of a horse named Cruise when he's looking off into the distance.

A horse from the BLS sale that is sprawled out and tired. The rest of his foot didn't get captured in the frame.

Another horse from the BLS sale that was taking a quick nap before someone came to ride him around the facility again.

Usually I'm taking pictures for my Equine Marketing class that usually have to be pictures of horses that are perfectly posed and look professional. This time I decided to capture the behind the scenes moments or candid shots of horses that are anything but perfect looking in the photos. Some of the horses aren't completely in the frame which might or might not be bad for the photo. The top photo also has a more playful rather than a realistic background to it. In the end these are just goofy pictures of horses that are anything but professional looking.

Tranquility

This was a picture I took back in Yellowstone, but I really liked the colors of the murky waters and steam from the geysers. It created a unique atmosphere and gave the surrounding area some life to it rather than just your average water and tree forest scene. The calm waters with the floating steam show a tranquil mood to the scene. The jagged lines of the tree and swirling steam bring your attention to the back rather than the still waters in the front.

Casting A Spell

I found this interesting tiny article about a Chinese photographer that captured the moment of bioluminescent plankton shining up the ocean that was lapping onto the shore. This was interesting because these plankton only shine brightly when distressed or agitated like by crashing waves or in this case people stepping on them like the footprints above. Either way, it creates a magical, surreal moment.

Here's the Article: http://www.thisiscolossal.com/2014/01/bioluminescent-beach-maldives/

Picture Exploring

Sunset Picture taken in California: ISO: 100,  3.49mm, f/2.4, 1/120sec
Bison picture seen at Yellowstone National Park: ISO: 800, 103.2mm, f/5.9, 1/350 sec

Night Lights and candles: ISO: 200, 4.3mm, f/8.0, 8.0 sec

Here are some photos taken recently and in the past and the data under each picture ready to be scrutinized by how well or how badly they were taken at the time.

Boat Parade

This boats was interesting with the candy cane style and two red circles on the boat to match it.
These boats came around mostly during Christmastime and although Christmas has come and gone, I couldn't resist sharing these gorgeous boats that came around the harbor. There were many of them all different kinds with many different types of lights, but these two interested me the most. I think panning the camera with the lights also created an interesting vibe and light trail to the boats.

Nobility at its finest

This picture was taken by me for my marketing class originally to fulfill an assignment, but I loved it so much that I decided to share it here. This picture was taken in the early morning out in a pasture and I used the horse's head to block the sun and give her a glow while I took the picture crouched on the ground. I happened to snap the picture at the exact time she exhaled into the cold air and thought that it gave the horse a spiritual, noble feel to it despite being a strong silhouette. The horse's name is Tyra and is a half Fresian cross mare.
